Pretending to be a Millionaire at Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina

This place is literally a work of art!

We went in November, so naturally they were ready for Christmas

Biltmore all ready for its closeup

Well hey there!
Stranger in background, you are no friend of mine!

Finally a shot without people in the background!

It was windy okay??

Biltmore is the largest privately owned house (well more like palace) in the United States and was built by George Washington Vanderbilt. Needless to say, this place is truly an architectural marvel that took six years to build and comes with a lot of history. The entire estate was built with its stunning surroundings in mind with balconies and windows providing residents and guests incredible views of the forest and mountains.

Unfortunately, photography and video recordings are prohibited inside, so all I have are those from the exterior. When you go inside, your visit is self guided, unless you decide to have a guide at an additional cost (I highly recommend at least purchasing an audio guide at $10 per person, since knowing what you are looking at will enrich the experience).

There is so much to do in Asheville, but setting aside a day to see Biltmore is worth the time and money. Unfortunately, we simply didn't have the time, so we just did the house itself. But if you have the day to visit, take some time to check out Biltmore Village and Winery, and the Gardens as well!

Pro Tip: check with your hotel to see if you can purchase discounted tickets directly from them.
