5 Reasons Why Americans Prefer Roadtrips

The Great American Roadtrip is a almost like a right of passage for any self respecting American who even remotely enjoys travel. Moreover, there are some really good reasons why we prefer roadtripping as your method of travel. So, dear friends, allow me to help you to navigate the strange and wonderful mind of Americans.

Disclaimer: Please note that this is not true for all Americans... obviously. This is just me voicing out my personal opinions and observations.

1) Just a take look at how stunning America is! From the West to the Midwest, from the Southwest to the South, and from the Northwest to the North, there is literally something beautiful to drive by in every state and region!

2) Our scenic highways are some of the best in the world. My two favorites would have to be the Natchez Trace Parkway and Utah's Scenic 1-15, where Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park reside. The Pacific Coast Highway is also incredibly stunning.

3) America's transit system is pretty much nonexistent. Sure, there is Greyhound and Amtrak, but (a) they can be pricey and (b) they don't go everywhere. Moreover, despite people grumbling about gas prices, compared to the rest of world, we are actually in pretty good shape, particularly if you are traveling further away from the downtown areas of major cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, et cetera, so driving can actually be cheaper since you can see more places for less.

4) Since all of the states are in one country (obviously) we don't have to worry about the hassle of customs, border control, or keeping track of our passports. You literally just drive across state lines and voila! Each state has a bunch of fun and unique things to do. Check out my list of travel destinations HERE for some ideas!

5) It is flat out the best way to see the country. Just flying into New York or Los Angeles for a week does NOT mean that you have seen America. Sure, you have visited, but you are far from experiencing the real America. The only way to do this would be to jump in a car and dive into what the different regions and states have to offer.

**Don't assume you can do everything in one go, (maybe you could, but you'll burn yourself out) because experiencing everything between the cuisine, cities, national parks, national monuments, et cetera will take a lifetime.

Have you ever taken an American roadtrip?

Best Wishes,

The Pseudo Southerner
