If you want an amazing panoramic view of Panama City, then Cinta Costera is the place to go. If you want to have a romantic place to walk or a fun place to bring the kids, then go to Cinta Costera. Let's also be real, if you want something free to do in Panama City, then go to Cinta Costera.
Cinta Costera is what I would describe as a public park, although it is more of a scenic walkway then a park. The city does an amazing job of keeping it clean and safe. In fact, I saw a bunch of families with kids and groups of youths walking or biking along the path. Cinta Costera is actually located across the street from Casco Viejo, so it wouldn't be too ridiculous to do both in one day.
We actually came here on our first day in Panama City via the Metro (the stop was 5 de Mayo) and walked from the Metro. However, I would recommend either getting a taxi or finding a bus from the Metro to Cinta Costera, as we ended up jay walking, which I would NOT recommend!
