This was a fun little outing for a summer day. I have always heard about people going berry picking and always thought that is was a cute day activity. We went to Pecan Hill U-Pick Berries in Raymond, Mississippi. Their picking season goes from late May to late June, so it's a small window! We actually went there on their last day.
WHAT TO WEAR: It was really hot the day that we went, so I would recommend a light weight top (preferably short sleeved), shorts, and comfortable shoes. Sunglasses are also a good idea.
WHAT TO BRING: Make sure to bring some bug spray, and get it all over your ankles! Sunscreen is also a must, there is a little shade if you are picking the peaches and blueberries, but don't count on it!
PRICING: This is actually a great deal: blueberries are $8.00 a bucket, blackberries are $12.00 a bucket, and peaches are $0.25 each. Each bucket is about a gallon.
MY EXPERIENCE: Unfortunately, since we went there on their very last day, we had a hard time filling up our bucket with blackberries, it took a while, but we managed. They were out of peaches so we couldn't get any of those. However, for the blueberry lovers out there, there were plenty of blueberries to go around. I really enjoyed the experience there despite the burning heat and would highly recommend this farm.
